Great menu and great brew selections. A good place to hand where the staff is welcoming and does not chase you off even if you are there to nurse your beer and watch the rest of the game
Joey runs an amazing brew house !!!! The beer selection is great , his staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is open and the diversity is on point. We always have a great time at the Blue Star .......🍺🍺🍻🍻🍺🍺
We stopped by while on a bike ride along the river. Had a flight of beer and a couple of pints and really good chips, salsa, and guacamole. The young lady server was courteous and very helpful. Only reason not 5 stars is that it didn't seem to clean.
We went at around noon on a Friday and there was no wait at all. They did have lunch specials but I chose the Turkey bacon avocado sandwich with fries. The fries have a great seasoning and didn't really need ketchup at all. The sandwich was excellent. Our waitress, Jordyn was a great server.
Had the bacon burger and pitcher of homemade beer. Both were good I'll probably go back.
Best meat and bread ever! The fries are seasoned just right and the lemonade is amazing! Highly recommend for a friend meeting place. Chill environment.
At the various venues there's outdoor seating nicely set up. Tables are well spaced. Employees wore their mask and were friendly at all the venues that we visited. Food and drinks were served on disposables, along with disposable cutlery. Overall very pleasant experience.
Good drinks, ok food, and subpar waitress. Waitress forgot to bring requested drinks, didn’t check up for refills, and brought ticket when we intended to have dessert. Additional note: was made aware a kid menu existed when leaving after purchasing a full size meal for a 3 year old. If it wasn’t for waitress I would return. When paying quality money one would expect quality service.
Big Republic Texas has this brewery with a ginormous brisket+hamburger -- amazing !!! I skipped dinner after this! Nothing small about it - glad I ate lunch here! Very nice staff !
The beer was just ok......nothing I would want to get a jug of. Now the chicken fried chicken was excellent, green beans fresh and delicious, Cob Salad amazeballs, stay away from the soup was supposed to be tomato and tasted like chili. The only appetizer we likes was the fries with basil and lightly cooked chopped up garlic. Oh don't get the fish.....not worth it. One big problem was burnt fries.....yeah wish there was less. It wasn't until we got under the good looking ones tell it got worst.
In compliance with covid-19 social distance and face masks
Nice place for a lunch out with some co workers. Facility was really cool, staff very friendly, beer cold and delicious, and food was great.
While walking the San Antonio RiverWalk we are always happy to stop at the Blue Star Brewing Co Restaurant & Bar to rest and enjoy a cold beer on the patio. If we're hungry they offer brunch on weekends from 10 am to 2pm or the full menu is also available at 11 am to close. We have eaten there many times and have never been disappointed.
Came here for lunch after a bike ride. The causal atmosphere, friendly service and good beer made for a nice stop. The food is good and the portions generous. Really, this place is more of a 3.5, but the rating doesn't allow me to do this.
The kiosk at North Star mall is excellent!!! Soledad gave amazing service! Prices are reasonable, and the drafts are tasty. Have been like 3 times now, and each time has been a treat
This was my first meal when I moved to Southtown and i enjoyed it so much that I went back the next day and the day after that. Of course they're famous for their beers but their burgers should carry just as much cache. As well, they have an unbelievable selection of salads. The Kale Caesar and standard Cobb are about the best I've ever had! Eat and Drink up!
Atmosphere & drinks were great food needs some work we had the nachos and cheese dips I can do better at home and that's not good cause I suck at making cheese dip.
Nice place for lunch. We had the grilled cheese and green chili soup and the reuben meal and they were good - not great, but good. I would probably come back if I were in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way. The atmosphere is nice and the brewery tour looks cool. The beers were very good, too. I might put a little more effort into the menu, but we liked it.
Great beer selection! Knowledgeable bar staff and good service! Definitely worth the visit.
Really great food, get the German plate if you love traditional German-American dishes.
I came looking for a cool place to conduct a video interview and to get some work done. Environment is relaxed and staff was really cool and helpful. I had the veggie burger and it was very good. Fries were tasty too!
I really enjoyed my experience here except that, it was kind of dirty. The tables were clean, but no napkins (so water from perspiration everywhere), the floors really needed a good sweep, and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Between the smell, the lack of toilet paper, the trash on the floor I couldn't wait to get back to my table. Great beer, but the whole place needs to be cleaned. I guess that's what you get for what you pay (its very cheap).
If you agree with my post, give a like. Stopped by Super Bowl day. Cinco Peso is our beer here. We really enjoy the establishment. Food has always been great. What I've seen is a turnover in new employee faces since I last been to BlueStar. I want to share with the owners and managers of the establishment that the cleaning and atmosphere of the place has to always be at a top notch level. This is a place that is in a prime location with many tourist and local people that stop by. Please make sure restaurant is clean the next time I come visit. Customers want fresh clean air to breathe and a cool place. Zoom in to the fan blade and iron pic.
The Quinoa Tabouli Salad and Michelada with Texican beer is fantastic!
Stopped in last night and tried several beers. Enjoyed all of them, especially the raspberry sour. So good! We had the pig pie and it was tasty, but we would have liked it more if it had a little zip added. The chocolate cake was rich and delicious! Glad we stopped.
Service was good, and beer was some of the better ones I've had in SA, but the food was a bit behind the others. Their hamburger meat tastes a bit like meatloaf, which isn't bad per say, but just not what either of us expected. Their fries also are a bit sweet; some tasted like they were sweet potatoes. Again, not bad, just not what I'd expected.
Staff was friendly but when we arrived they didnt have the beers we wanted to try on the flight and the kitchen had closed (we came about a hour and half before closing). We still tried a flightnbut ut wasnt to our taste. Cool scene though. Parking is a bit tight. They also have river walk access from parking lot.
We stopped in for a snack before walking the Riverwalk. My boyfriend ordered us the nachos and I just figured we would be sifting through a mess of bare chips and soggy chips, some neglected and some heavy with toppings, like in most restaurants. But wow! These were so carefully put together, each individual chip loaded with black beans, cheese and jalapeños! Nachos made right! Our server was very polite and kind and did not give us an attitude about only ordering an appetizer. We will certainly be back to try more next time!
The food is very good, but falls short of being great. Fries were fresh but really greasy. The brisket burger is very good... What keeps it from being great is that both the burger and the brisket were overcooked, but the flavor was still right on. 5 stars are warranted, though, in no small part because of blue star's location... Right next to Stella's and halcyon's. You could spend an afternoon and evening just in those 3 places and have a great day.
Excellent quality beer and food! The Apache Amber and Spicy Thai Noodles were both top notch. Service was friendly and prompt, atmosphere was lively and fun. Will definitely come back the next time we visit San Antonio.
It has amazing food and great drinks but food takes some time to be taken to your table and I do recommend ginger and cola
When I ordered the wheathead beer the server said “if you don’t like beer you order the wheat beer” well I do like beer it’s just a nice day out and too early for an ipa and I like wheat beers. Aside from the possible insult the ‘blue star veggie burger’ should be called ‘the blue star sad burger’ because that’s how I felt. The fried pickles are better and cheaper at Broadway 50/50. It was nice to sit outside but go to Stella instead if you want good food.
This place is great because it is right along the river and has a great patio with an even better view! The food is pretty good and casual. I just wish the service here would get better. Anytime I go here the staff either is clueless about the menu, has no experience and messes up my order or forgets something I did order in the back. There is always an issue. Parking doesn't really bother me too much. I really like this spot so I hope they can find a decent staff to make the experience a little more enjoyable.
Love the Beer! When the weather is nice, love to sit on the deck to enjoy some local brew. Right off the Mission paved trail, great location for a stop during (or after) a ride! Grass-fed beef always a plus!Update: had the beer cheese dip (4 LARGE pretzel rolls and yummy cheese). Do it. No dinner needed. Must be shared but those pretzels are SO GOOD!
Decent place. We had the pulled pork fries & they were ok. Beers are nothing spectacular.
Amazing cheesey fries! The atmosphere is super nice and friendly
I tried the Raspberry Geyser at Northstar mall. Thumbs up from me! Love that I can shop and enjoy me a drink as well. My husband also found his favorite new beer here. Believe it is called Flaco
Excellent service, great food, didn't get to try every beer but the ones I did were really good. Would recommend going in a not so hot day so you can sit outside.
This is tough... Beer is great! Food is not that great. If you're gonna offer food with your fine beer... do it right. I may not be back for the food -- but definitely for the beer!
A good beer on a patio in the sun, is exactly what the doctor ordered. #bulverdehillspils #flyingpig
It's been some time since I have been there but I remember it well because it's where I had my first date with my fiance. They had great beer and good food, no liquor though.
Loved stopping by for a nice lunch and visit. The inside is a blast to look at and has plenty of seating. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather and view along the river trail. The food was delicious and came out quick. The beers were cold and tasty. I would recommend coming here to visit and have a good meal.
Fantastic microbrewery! Great food and service. This is a must-see gem.
Fun place, great local brews. Open since 1996. A must visit place for any craft beer lovers when you're in San Antonio.
Great beer, great view, great service! Outdoor seating at its best!
Another 5 star but I only really go places I like! The beers are great and the food is top notch. I really like the jalapeno poppers
Food was decent and beer was good. Service was almost non-existent. We were here intending to eat and then attend the astronomy talk. We arrived an hour early figuring that would be more than sufficient to eat before the event began. I would estimate the restaurant was only half full. We were told we couldn’t go into the event room yet, so we were seated in the bar area and ordered beer and food. Our beers arrived promptly and then we sat for 20-30 minutes with no staff contact other than another waitress clearing our glasses and saying she would get our waitress. Our waitress appeared maybe 10 minutes later to apologize for the long wait. In the meantime we had finished our beers 20 minutes prior and asked for another round. Our food arrived, we ate and our plates were picked up before our second round of beer arrived. By this time the event had started and there was no longer seating available. Not terribly impressed.
I ordered a burger and a beer, I was dirty and didn't want to offend anyone. I told the waitress I was going to wait outside. I wasted for it to go.After 30 minutes I went inside and asked about my food. It was on the counter she gave it to me, like it just came out but it was sitting there with other food on top.It was cold and not medium rare. It was well done. 20$ for what, I wasn't in proper attire.Jack in the box is down the street
I'm sorry but I have to be honest, I had the brisket sandwich with fries, didn't care for it, even the coke had a wierd taste to it. $13.00 for a brisket sandwich, I'll never go there again!
I go here for the nachos and the drinks. Texarita is good. Their Stout is good. Been here 3 or 4 times. Last time service was bad. Appetizer made it to the table at the same time as drinks. Waitress was more worried about the drama going on with some girl who walked and had story to tell. She looked like she worked there but not on shift. It was just bad service, forgetting things on our order and taking forever. Don't expect great service. Oh yea The desserts are great too and they allow dogs on outside seating.
